Crocodiles are some of the most impressive predators in existence, and we’ve located the largest ever recorded.
Crocodiles are sizable aquatic reptiles that thrive in tropical regions worldwide. These animals can be distinguished from alligators by their V-shaped snout, long and narrow heads, and the fact that all of their teeth are visible when the jaw is closed.
Crocs are ambush predators that primarily hunt at night due to their excellent night vision — most prey animals see poorly in the dark, so they use this to their advantage. They eat mainly fish, amphibians, crustaceans, birds, other reptiles, and mammals. Occasionally, they will cannibalize smaller crocodiles.
