These Amazing Big Cats Once Walked The Earth
European Jaguar
Though they share the same name, European Jaguars didn’t have much in common with either the Giant Jaguar or their modern relatives. No one knows exactly what the European Jaguar looked like, but scientists theorize it was a cross between a jaguar and a lion. What they do know for sure is that it was huge – almost 500 lbs – and was at the top of the food chain in prehistoric Europe.
