Great White Shark Breaks Into Diver’s Cage (VIDEO)

This cage diver expected a thrill, but not quite to this extent.

The video (now with over 26 million views) shows a great white shark swimming through a supposedly impenetrable cage and out the top during a routine cage dive in Mexico.

The video was captured by a father who generally videotapes his children’s antics for YouTube.

He explained that this wasn’t a shark attack, but an animal’s attempt to take a bite out of the tuna bait used to lure the fish closer :

“[Sharks] are temporarily blinded when they open their mouths, so when the shark went for the tuna bait on the rope it accidentally slammed into the cage. They can’t swim backwards so it thrust forward through the cage with a diver inside.”

Despite the bad reputation of great whites, this shark wasn’t trying to attack the diver.

He continued, “Rest assured, no one was injured and after a dramatic half minute, the diver emerged safely. The crew on the boat did an outstanding job doing their best to make sure it had this happy outcome.”
