Mike MacMillon was on his way to a meeting with the mayor when he noticed a skunk running around his street with a coke can stuck on his head.
Realizing he was in his best suit and the smell of skunk might not be great for his upcoming meeting, Mike was understandably a bit hesitant to approach the animal.
After watching it nearly get hit by a car, however, he knew he had to do something.
He told the Washington Post, “I saw the skunk there, and I didn’t think I could help. Then another car came along and almost hit it. I couldn’t leave that animal like that.”
The skunk eventually came close enough for him to grab onto the can and attempt to pull it off.
It was a bit of a struggle, but the skunk was eventually freed — and thankfully Mike wasn’t sprayed.
The skunk scurried off to live another day, and Mike continued to his meeting.
