This is the incredible moment a wildebeest fights off two lions by hooking its horn into one of the predator’s hind legs.

As Hannes Joubert visited the Ngotso Dam in Kruger National Park, South Africa, on April 26, he spotted a wildebeest taking a dust bath.

Unfortunately for the wildebeest, it had also been spotted by two hungry female lions who took the opportunity to pounce on their potential prey.

Quickly it appeared the wildebeest was doomed as the lions crawled all over the unlucky meal, until it swiftly rose from the presumed dead.

The wildebeest valiantly fought back against the lions’ onslaught, eventually managing to use its horn to gore its way to freedom.
