A witness captured the moment when a Colorado deputy escaped the jaws of a mountain lion in shocking footage posted online recently.
Officers responded to the scene of the attack and killed the mountain lion because it was a threat to human safety. We do not have reason to believe there is any further public safety concerns.

The big cat was shot and killed after being separated from the officer.
Mountain lion attacks are on the rise in Colorado. A total of 22 mountain lion attacks on humans took place in Colorado since 1990, including three fatalities, wildlife officials said. Three of those attacks occurred last year.
