Only found in the Galapagos Islands, the red-lipped batfish have some of the strangest coloration around.

Not to mention, the positioning of its red lips makes it look eternally grumpy. Is it possible that it’s the fish cousin of Grumpy Cat?

Named after Darwin, Ogcocephalus darwini are one of the stranger species found in the ocean (which is saying a lot). Wanting to stand out from the crowd even more than it already does, this species walks more like a lizard than the typical-looking fish you might expect. Using its specialized pectoral and pelvic fins, it waddles awkwardly around the ocean floor in search of food and a mate.

Some researchers believe that this species use their bright-red lips to attract their mates, but this has not been proven yet.

Adding to its uniqueness, this species has a long, point nose with a tiny white lure underneath, which is assumed to be used to attract prey, which consist of small fish, mollusks and crustaceans.

It is also thought that this lure secrets a chemical that serves to attract  prey right to its location. They can grow to be about 24 centimeters long and spend most of their life walking across the ocean floor.
