A King Cobra, the world’s largest venomous snake, slithers along a Singapore street, looking for a bite to eat. This cobra is about three and a half meters long, and a snake eater. Preys on almost nothing else. Its generic name, Ophiophagus, means snake eater.

But when it comes across a reticulated python, outside Nanyang Technological University, the hungry cobra soon realizes that it may have met its match…

Reticulated pythons can grow up to 6.5 meters. The biggest ones have been known to eat humans.

A full grown python can open its jaws wide enough to swallow a teenager.

Luckily for the cobra and the watching University students, this python is a small one, about two meters long. Just the right size for a cobra’s dinner.

Cobra strikes but python grabs the predator in its deadly embrace and begins to squeeze. Python knots itself around cobra’s body and squeezes again.

The fight goes on for thirty minutes. Cobra trying to wriggle free and get another bite in. Python trying to crush cobra to death.

Suddenly, after a few surges of its long, powerful body, the cobra breaks free. For a split second it turns to face the python. Will it resume its deadly attack?

The cobra decides to get the hell out of there.

Those pythons really can put a squeeze on you.
The python lays still, apparently dazed, seemingly oblivious to the passing traffic.

Looks like the cobra got in at least one bite, injecting its deadly venom.

The Cobra slithers off into the bushes, waiting, no doubt, for the python to die, or maybe even, for an unsuspecting freshman to walk past.

An onlooker from the University recorded the whole thing.
