A massive deep sea shark was filmed inspecting a submersible in some incredible, historic footage.
The shark was a bluntnose sixgill, also known as a cow shark. These sharks are the largest sharks of the hexanchoid order, primitive types of sharks, predating most dinosaurs. The shark was estimated to be about 17 ft (5 m) long.
This marks the first time in history scientists successfully tagged an animal from a submarine. The satellite tag will help scientists track learn more about these elusive, ancient sharks.
