VIDEO: Rival Monkey Gangs Fight for Food After Tourists Stop Showing Up Because of Coronavirus

In shocking footage from Thailand, hundreds of monkeys were seen fighting for food after tourists stopped showing up in the usually-bustling city because of coronavirus.

The hordes of macaques, reportedly from two rival gangs, were caught on camera running rampant through the streets of Lopburi, savagely battling eachother for a single banana.

These primates are usually well-fed thanks to the tourists who usually flood the city – but these tourists have stayed home thanks to fears of COVID-19.

“I think the monkeys were very, very hungry,” onlooker Sasaluk Rattanachai, who filmed the fight, told DailyMail.com.

“There’s normally a lot of tourists here to feed the monkeys but now there are not as many, because of the coronavirus.”

Rattanachai said they “looked more like wild dogs than monkeys.”

“They went crazy for a single piece of food. I’ve never seen them this aggressive,” she said.
