Turtle Narrowly Escapes Gator’s Jaws

This incredible video captures the moment a turtle narrowly escapes being devoured by a large alligator.

The American alligator is one of the apex predators in the southeast United States. With a bite force of 9,452 newtons (2,125 lbf), the gator has one of the strongest bites on the planet, and it can crush a turtle shell like an egg.

However, this plucky turtle was able to maneuver its way out of the gator’s jaws to see another day.

While we have seen videos of turtles riding on the backs of alligators, make no mistake – turtles are often prey for these great American crocodilians. This turtle was very lucky to survive. Things could have ended up quite differently had the gator been able to get a grip on the turtle…
