Meet Diego, the dog who hunts hunters.
This anti-poaching dog works for an animal conservancy in Kenya.
Diego’s job is to protect the rare rhinos from horn-seeking poachers.
This was filmed at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, a critical sanctuary for endangered rhinos in Africa and the home of the last male northern white rhino.
Here we get a dog’s-eye view of the obstacles Diego tackles in his training, filmed by filmmaker Tom Aveling:
It’s all in a day’s work for Diego and his handlers, who are protecting rhinos with the help of Fauna & Flora International. A note of reassurance—No dogs have been lost in this dangerous work, although on the front line, they are less at risk than their human handlers. Find out more at www.goodboydiego.com.
“When he has his eye on his target, there is no stopping him. Capable of reaching speeds of 40 mph, Diego really is a rhino’s best friend.”
