1. Snake Island, Brazil

This island is located outside of the city of São Paulo and is referred to as “the deadliest place in the world”. The area contains more than 4,000 golden lancehead snakes, one of the most venomous species ever encountered.

Golden lancehead snakes are responsible for more deaths than any other snake on the continent. Luckily, this particular island is not inhabited — and we don’t really recommend visiting.
